General Information
Who needs Visa?
  • You are required to obtain a Visa if you have passport of the following countries, including but not limited tothe Philippines, the People's Republic of ChinaIndiaIndonesiaFederated States of MicronesiaRepublic of Palau or Marshall Islands.
  • U.S. citizens are exempt from obtaining a Short-Term Visa and Transit Visa.
  • Also, some countries have Reciprocal Visa Exemption Agreements with Japan. See here to check if you are eligible.
Before you apply
  • You must apply in person and be a resident of Guam to apply at our office. Visa will be issued when you meet all of the following requirements and the issuance is considered to be appropriate.
  1. You possess a valid passport and are entitled to re-entry to a country of your nationality or a country of your residence.
  2. All submitted documents are authentic, completed and satisfactory.
  3. The activities to be engaged in Japan, the civil status or the position of the applicant, and the period of stay meet "Status of Residence and Period of Stay" stipulated in the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act. (Cabinet Order No.319 of 1951. hereinafter referred to as the “Immigration Control Act”)
  4. You do not fall under any of the items of Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Control Act.
Business Hours
  • Visa service is available on Weekdays between 8:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 16:30.
  • Visa service is NOT available on 2023 Office Holidays. See here.
Processing Time
  • A minimum of four (4) working days is required to process the Visa application. If you apply at the Consular Office in Saipan, a minimum of five (5) working days is required.
  • Please also note that, depending on the documents submitted, some cases may require longer processing time.
Pick-up
  • You must pick up your passport yourself; however, you may authorize other person to do so with an authorization letter, a photo ID and the receipt card.
Visa Fee
  • We only accept cash. Please bring the EXACT amount. Personal checks and credit cards are NOT accepted.
  • Visa Fee may be waived if your country has bilateral agreements with Japan. (e.g. U.S. citizens)

Visit Japan Web

Visit Japan Web is a web service that visitors(including Japanese and the foreigners who have reentry permits)can use for quarantine, immigration and customs procedures in order to enter Japan.
   
Short-Term Visa
What is Short-Term Visa?
  • You need Short-Term Visa when you visit Japan for 90 days or less for sightseeing, visiting relatives or friends, business trips, participating in athletic tournaments, contests or other similar activities.
Minimum Required Documents
  • In order to apply for Short-Term Visa, you must submit the following documents;
  1. Valid Passport
  2. Visa Application Form
  3. Permanent Resident Card or valid U.S. Visa excluding B-1 & B-2 (if applicable)
  4. One Photo (2in x 1.4in  45mm x 35mm)
  5. Flight Itinerary
  6. Documents indicating the activities while in Japan (Travel itinerary, event flier, company letter, contract, etc.
  7. Recent Bank Statement (It must indicate the name of the applicant)
  8. Other Documents (if deemed necessary)
  9. Visa Fee (if applicable)
  • Please contact our office for the requirements for nationals of Russia, CIS countries and Georgia.
***If visiting your relatives or friends***
  • In addition to the Minimum Required Documents above, you must submit the following additional documents.
  • All documents must be completed by the Inviting Person Guarantor in Japan.
  • Please contact us for the proper forms.

  3. Inviting Person’s information
  4. Documents to prove the relationship to the Inviting Person / Guarantor
  • If the Guarantor or Inviting Person pays for your travel cost, please contact our office for additional requirements.
***If invited by a Company in Japan for business***
  • In addition to the Minimum Required Documents above, you must submit the following additional documents.
  • All documents must be completed by the Inviting Company in Japan.
  • Please contact us for the proper forms to submit.
  1. Employment Verification (status of employment and salary)
  2. “Kaisya-Shikiho” (company page in the stock market listing) if the company is a stock market listed company or "Hojin Tokibo-Tohon" (Japanese Official Company Register) if the company is not stock market listed.

  5. Itinerary (Schedule of Stay) in Japan

Transit Visa
What is Transit Visa?
  • You need Transit Visa when you travel via Japan to other destination.
Minimum Required Documents
  • In order to apply for Transit Visa, you must submit the following documents;
  1. Valid Passport
  2. Visa Application Form
  3. Permanent Resident Card or valid U.S. Visa excluding B-1 & B-2 (if applicable)
  4. One Photo (2in x 1.4in  45mm x 35mm)
  5. Flight Itinerary
  6. Other Documents (if deemed necessary)
  7. Visa Fee (if applicable)  
Work Visa & Long-Term Visa
Minimum Required Documents
  • In order to apply for Work Visa or Long-Term Visa, you need to have the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) with you when you apply.
  • The COE is the official document issued by the Immigration Bureau in Japan. Please call Immigration Information Center at +81-3-5796-7112 for further information.
  • After receiving the COE, you can apply for Work Visa or Long-Term Visa with the following documents;
  1. Valid Passport
  2. Visa Application Form
  3. One Photo (2in x 1.4in  45mm x 35mm ) taken within three months
  4. Original “Certificate of Eligibility”
  5. Flight Itinerary
  6. Letter explaining the reason for applying in Guam, if not a resident of Guam. (If you are NOT a resident of Guam, we cannot guarantee the issuance of Visa. Please contact our office.)
