The Consulate-General of Japan in Hagatna is seeking to hire one (1) local staff member primarily responsible for Secretary under the following terms:

1. Job Description
Secretary to Consul-General (Local Staff)
The Secretary will provide comprehensive administrative and organizational support to the Consul-General and diplomatic officials. Core responsibilities include managing schedules and correspondence, preparing and reviewing official documents, coordinating protocol and public relations activities, and assisting with cultural programs and general office operations. The role requires discretion, attention to detail, and the ability to handle diverse tasks in a professional environment.

2. Application Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
  • 20 years of age or older.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization (for non-U.S. citizens).
  • University/college degree (undergraduate or equivalent).
  • Native-level proficiency in English.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
  • Interest in Japanese government policies and Japanese culture is preferred.

3. Expected Start Date
November 2025 (tentative). The first six months of employment will be considered a probationary period.

4. Work Schedule
Full-time position.
Working hours: 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM – 5:15 PM on weekdays (38.75 hours per week).

6. Selection Process
  • First Screening: Document review (Mid-October)
  • Second Screening: Written test and interview (Late October)
    Only those who pass the first screening will be contacted for the second screening.
