2026 New Year’s Message from Consul-General UEDA
As we welcome the New Year, I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to the people of Guam and to all friends of Japan. May the year ahead bring good health, happiness, and continued prosperity.
Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the Consulate-General of Japan in Guam. Together with our many partners across the island, we celebrated this milestone through a series of cultural events and a reception to express our appreciation for the contributions of Japanese companies to Guam’s regional economic development. I am sincerely grateful for the strong support and warm cooperation extended to the Consulate-General of Japan throughout the many years of its existence on island by the Guam community.
The New Year represents the first step toward a new half century of friendship. Building on the trust cultivated over the past 50 years, we will continue to strengthen the Japan–U.S. Alliance while further deepening the close relationship between Japan and Guam through cultural exchange, tourism, and economic cooperation.
We also remain committed to honoring those who lost their lives during the war. This year again, we will participate in memorial services and ceremonies across the island, reaffirming our shared commitment to peace and reconciliation.
As Consul-General of Japan, I look forward to working closely with the people of Guam, supporting Japanese residents and visitors, and further strengthening our longstanding close and friendly ties.
Wishing you all a peaceful and fulfilling New Year!
