2025 New Year’s Message from Consul-General UEDA
I extend my heartfelt wishes to everyone as we welcome 2025 with hope, health, and prosperity.
As the Consul-General of Japan, I remain dedicated to strengthening the bonds between Japan and Guam while ensuring that the needs of Japanese residents and visitors are met with care and support. Guam holds a special place in the hearts of Japanese tourists, and I am committed to promoting tourism and fostering cultural exchanges that deepen the mutual understanding between our communities.
Since my arrival in Guam on November 15, 2024, I have been warmly welcomed and have had the privilege of meeting many distinguished leaders, including Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. While attending several events and ceremonies, I have received many words expressing friendship with Japan and high expectations for our partnership. This inspires me to renew my determination daily to further develop the relations between Japan and Guam.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of our office, established in July 1975. As we commemorate this milestone, we reflect on the efforts of our predecessors and reaffirm our commitment to building a bright future for the next generation.
In the year ahead, I look forward to collaborating further with local partners to create an even more welcoming environment for Japanese travelers and to providing continued support to Japanese residents in Guam. Together, we can strengthen our ties and share Guam’s unique charm with even more people from Japan.
Wishing you all a joyful and successful New Year filled with new opportunities and enduring friendships.
