10th Anniversary of the March 11 Earthquake and Tsunami
Message to the people of Guam
10 years ago today, on March 11, 2011 at 14:46 JST, the Tohoku Region of Japan was hit with a magnitude 9.0 earthquake and tsunami, leaving 15,899 dead and 2,527 still missing.
At that time, the people of Guam showed an outpouring of love and support for the victims and the families affected by the tragedy. On behalf of the people of Japan, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the people of Guam for all the kind words and generous donations for Japan.
Additionally, my deepest appreciation also goes to all the U.S. service members on Guam who supported the “Operation Tomodachi” and saved so many lives. We will never forget what you did for us.
On this special occasion of the 10th anniversary of the March 11, I would like to invite you to watch the following commemorating videos;
