I am Izumi Seki, the newly appointed Consul-General of Japan in Hagåtña.
My overseas posting include the Embassy of Japan in Australia, Embassy of Japan in the United States of America (twice) and Embassy of Japan in Lithuania. Including my experiences at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo, I have been responsible for various issues ranging from Political, Economic, Consular, Cultural and Information, and Economic Cooperation affairs etc.
This is my first time to come to Guam, and I am truly pleased to be posted in the year-round summer paradise island of Guam known for its overwhelming natural beauty and warm hospitality.
Approximately 3,700 Japanese residents live on Guam, and over 110 Japanese- affiliated companies have expanded into Guam, with an annual Japanese visitor arrival of 600,000 tourists. Currently, Japan and Guam share an established strong and excellent relation.
I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to each and every one for your continued efforts in strengthening and maintaining this good relation. In this regard, I too, with your kind support, will do my best to broaden exchanges and promote further strong relations between Japan and Guam.
